Edo state Police uncovered ritualist den with 20 mummified corpses

The Edo state Police command has uncovered a ritualist den with 20 mummified corpses in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

A spokesperson of the command, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu,  who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 17, said  credible information led to the discovery of the corpses in the building along Asoro Slope off Ekenwan Road, Uzebu Quarters in Benin City.

Operative of the command immediately mobilised, stormed the scene and arrested three suspect while others fled.

In pursuance of its operational mandate of nipping crimes in the bud, Operatives of the Edo state police command 17-08-2022 unravelled a suspect ritual shrine.

Following credible information at the command's disposal that some corpses were discovered in the building along Asoro Slope off Ekenwan Road, Uzebu Quarters, Benin City.

Operative of the command immediately swung into action and mobilized to the scene, the statement read.

At the scene,3 suspects , Chimaobi Okoewu‘M, of AkwaIbom State were arrested while others fled. 

An intensive effort is ongoing to arrest the other fleeing suspects.

15 mummified male corpses, 3 mummified female corpses and 2 mummified children corpses were discovered at the scene.

To this end, the Edo state commissioner of police, CP Abutu Yaro, FDC, has directed the Deputy commissioner of police in charge of state CID to carry out a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovered corpses and therefore enjoin the general public to be calm as the command will continue to ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens and those residing in Edo.

NYSC Confirms Death of Two Corps members in a horrific car accident.

 

Two National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on their way back home to Kaduna State after the 2022 Batch B Stream 1' Orientation Course in Adamawa State.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the NYSC Director of Press and public Relations, Eddy Megwa, stating that deceased were on relocation from Adamawa to Kano State before the unfortunate accident occurred along Zaria/Kano highway after their registration in Kano.

The statement reads in part: The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah on behalf of the NYSC Management has condoled with the families of two Corps members that lost their lives in ghastly motor accident on their way back home to Kaduna State after the 2022 Batch B Stream 1' Orientation Course in Adamawa State.

Speaking during his condolence visit to the bereaved families today in Kaduna, General Fadah commended the patriotic spirit of the deceased Corps Members who paid the supreme sacrifice while serving their fatherland.

He thereafter also stated that The Director-General had visited the other two Corps Members that survived the accident but were receiving treatment at the 44 Military Hospital in Kaduna.

The General, therefore, pray for their quick recovery.

He added that the Scheme would do  everything to possible to put a smile on their faces.

General Fadah commended the chief Medical Director of the hospital, Colonel NS Onuchukwu and his staff for providing adequate Medicare for the hospitalized Corper Members.

The CMD assured the Director General that the hospital would do everything possible to ensure that the injured Corpers members receive prompt and necessary medical attention.

Woman set husband ablaze and allegedly commit suicide in Osun State.

The Police in Osun State have launched a search for a newly married wife,Ifeoluwa Bamidele who killed her husband, Bolu,by setting him ablaze in Osogbo on Sunday.

Reports claimed that Bamidele allegedly committed the act after finding out her husband cheated on her and had a child outside wedlock.

Bolu, who lives in Cairo but was visiting Nigeria, was set ablaze in his home , burning him and destroying his properties.

He was rushed to the Osogbo Central Hospital where he was referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan For better treatment.

According to reports, Ife has now been found dead of suspected suicide.

Bolu also didn't survive. He died as a result of the burns sustained from the fire.

 She was also reported to have to have left an angry massage on her WhatsApp status, indicating her actions was premeditated.

Man machete girlfriend to death for destroying his phone.

 

A 23-year -old man , Godspower Adigheti, reportedly macheted his girlfriend to death at Ozoro, Isoko North Local government Area, Delta State for destroying his iPhone 11 Prob Max mobile phone.

It was said that the suspect and the deceased, Gift Oloku, had an altercation, which resulted in a fight.

A reports said " she had gone out and when she returned home, the boyfriend demanded to know where she was coming from.

In the process, a fight broke out and the girl destroyed the screen of his iPhone 11 Prob Max mobile phone.

That was how he attacked her with a Cutlass.

With report also claimed that the deceased cohabits with the suspect and had a baby girl for him.

The state police Relations officer , Mr Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said On 16/07/22 , the DPO Ozoro division received a distress call that one Godspower Adigheti, 23- year old ,of Oramudu quarters inflicted machete cut on his 22-year-old  girlfriend, Gift Oloku .

She was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Investigation revealed that a fight broke out between them over a disagreement.

15 people shot dead in overnight shooting in Soweto South Africa

 A heavy shooting in Soweto, 15 people have been shot dead in a bar in the South African township of Soweto, say by the police.

Police said gumen entered the Orlando East tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning and started firing randomly at a group of young people.

They then fled the scene in a white minibus. No motive for the attack has been established, said by the police.

Reports claimed that, Several more people are in a critical condition in hospital.

The victims are believed to be between 19 and 35 years old.

Bodies were on top of each other with blood all over.

We were looking for our beloved ones, we had to jump over bodies looking for our brothers, said local resident Ntombikayise Meji.

Gauteng province head of police, Lt- Gen Elias Mawela , said the shooting appears to have been a cold-blooded attack on innocent tavern patrons.

A press statement released by his office said the gunmen had been armed with rifles and 9mm pistols when they entered the bar.

Police are searching for the suspects, whose identities remain unknown.

It's Said; Thaban Moloi , a community leader in Soweto, was angered by the amount of time it took police to arrive at the scene.

It's terrible, I am telling you. people don't know what to do . If you were there you could see women and children crying.

Moloi added; that the attack happened at 23:00 local time (21:00 GMT) on Saturday but police didn't arrive until 04:00 on Sunday.

It took five hours for them to come honestly", he said.

Relatives of victims have been mourning outside the tavern.

Four other people were killed in a separate tavern shooting in the south-eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal , police said on Sunday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his condolences to the relatives of victims of both shootings.

As a nation, we cannot allow violent criminals to terrorise us in this way, regardless of where such incidents may occur ," he added.

Shooting are not uncommon in South Africa. They are often linked to gangs or alcohol.

But this is an exceptionally high death toll and comes soon after the death of 21 teenagers thought to have been either gassed or poisoned at another bar in the city of East London.

Nine died and 12 injured in fatal accident in kaduna-Zaria road.

 

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Kaduna State command, Hafiz Rigim, on Thursday, said nine people lost their lives and 12 others were seriously injured in a fatal accident involving four vehicles,on  kaduna-Zaria road.

According to him, the accident happened on Thursday, at about 5.00pm, along Rigachikun bridge a few minutes drive to the National Open University.

He said two DAF trailers, a Toyota bus as well as a Toyota Camry were involved in the accident, adding that the corpses of the nine passenger and the injured were taken to St. Gerald Hospital and Barau Dokko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna. 

He advised drivers and motorist to always abide by safety rules so as to save lives and property, adding that clearance of the instructions caused by the accident was ongoing.

He further advised motorists and other road users going through the kaduna- Zaria highway of ongoing road construction and diversion in Kawo ,Ragachickun, Mararaban Jos, Burning Yero and Jaji, of the accident for caution.

According to him , DAF trailers, a Toyota bus and a Toyota Camry were involved in the accident Which resulted from over speeding, wrongful overtaking, and loss of control.

Professor Charles Soludo has condemned the manhandling of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) by a government Taskforce personnel.

Reports:Anambra State governor, Professor Charles Soludo has condemned the manhandling of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) by a government Taskforce personnel during the demolition of a building in the Prophet's church on Thursday.

Charles Soludo also said he has instructed that the taskforce personnel involved in the crime be made to face the law.

Governor Soludo wrote on his Facebook page after the incident;

Let me sincerely appreciate Anambra for Understanding with us as we take audacious steps towards making our Homeland Liveable and Prosperous. On this Journey, Imperfect steps will be taken, emotions will run wild and opinions will grow thick.

What's pertinent to notice is that we shall remain undaunted, correct our imperfections, strive to put our emotions in check and aggregate opinion that are in the interest of our overall good.

Yesterday outing has evoked emotions, not against the decision of government, but the imperfect and unprofessional manner with which one of the task force members discharged his lawful duty.

Uganda woman arrested for killing of her 7-year-old daughter

 

Reports: Police in Uganda has arrested a woman whose name is identified as Tilutya Suzan for allegedly killing her 7-year-old daughter, Namugaya Mercy.

The lifeless body of the girl was found dumped in a sugar cane plantation at Nkalenge village in Busede Sub Country, Jinja District on Thursday, July 7.

According to Report, the 35-year- old mother allegedly strangled her daughter to death and dumped her body in the plantation.

With further investigation still on going by the Kakira police.

Three Armed Robbery suspects Mets their end as they were burned to death by irate youths in ABA , the commercial city of Abia State.

The three Armed Robbery were said to be the ones terrorising Afor-ule, Umuimo and Kamalu streets in Osisoma axis of ABA.

One of the Armed Robbery was set ablaze at UBA Bank junction behind Rufus Obi Chemist.

They were caught up by irate youths after their successful operation around the axis on Sunday.

According to report, the men who operate with Tricycle/ Motorcycle were knocked down by a moving vehicle while fleeing from the police.

The three Armed Robbery were separately set ablaze, one at opposite UBA Bank, others were burnt at Union Bank junction and Star Paper Mill by Kamalu Street ABA.

As at the time of the report, police have taken over the scene as people gathered to take a look and thereby causing traffic gridlock in the ever busy ABA Owerri Road.

There has been several reports of armed robbery around the aforementioned streets lately, the men who operate with motorcycle specializes in snatching of Keke Napepe, POS operators and stealing from residents.

After his 17th birthday he was named on the bench for the final game of the 2012/2013 Premier league campaign, a win against Everton , and he was then involved in a post- season tour to USA.

His involvement with Jose Mourinho stepped up in 2014/2015 and Christensen was handed his Chelsea debut in a fourth-Round League Cup victory at Shrewsbury.

He played the full 90 minutes at the Right-back , in the FA Cup fourth round against Bradford.
