Edo state Police uncovered ritualist den with 20 mummified corpses

The Edo state Police command has uncovered a ritualist den with 20 mummified corpses in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

A spokesperson of the command, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu,  who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 17, said  credible information led to the discovery of the corpses in the building along Asoro Slope off Ekenwan Road, Uzebu Quarters in Benin City.

Operative of the command immediately mobilised, stormed the scene and arrested three suspect while others fled.

In pursuance of its operational mandate of nipping crimes in the bud, Operatives of the Edo state police command 17-08-2022 unravelled a suspect ritual shrine.

Following credible information at the command's disposal that some corpses were discovered in the building along Asoro Slope off Ekenwan Road, Uzebu Quarters, Benin City.

Operative of the command immediately swung into action and mobilized to the scene, the statement read.

At the scene,3 suspects , Chimaobi Okoewu‘M, of AkwaIbom State were arrested while others fled. 

An intensive effort is ongoing to arrest the other fleeing suspects.

15 mummified male corpses, 3 mummified female corpses and 2 mummified children corpses were discovered at the scene.

To this end, the Edo state commissioner of police, CP Abutu Yaro, FDC, has directed the Deputy commissioner of police in charge of state CID to carry out a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovered corpses and therefore enjoin the general public to be calm as the command will continue to ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens and those residing in Edo.

Man machete girlfriend to death for destroying his phone.

 

A 23-year -old man , Godspower Adigheti, reportedly macheted his girlfriend to death at Ozoro, Isoko North Local government Area, Delta State for destroying his iPhone 11 Prob Max mobile phone.

It was said that the suspect and the deceased, Gift Oloku, had an altercation, which resulted in a fight.

A reports said " she had gone out and when she returned home, the boyfriend demanded to know where she was coming from.

In the process, a fight broke out and the girl destroyed the screen of his iPhone 11 Prob Max mobile phone.

That was how he attacked her with a Cutlass.

With report also claimed that the deceased cohabits with the suspect and had a baby girl for him.

The state police Relations officer , Mr Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said On 16/07/22 , the DPO Ozoro division received a distress call that one Godspower Adigheti, 23- year old ,of Oramudu quarters inflicted machete cut on his 22-year-old  girlfriend, Gift Oloku .

She was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Investigation revealed that a fight broke out between them over a disagreement.

Akwa Ibom barber died of poinson after vomiting blood.

A young barber based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, know as Estro De Barbguy has died after he was allegedly poisoned.

Reports claimed that Estro De Barbguy died on Friday after vomiting blood.

He was said to be one of the best barber in Uyo.

Meanwhile, friends have taken to Facebook to mourn his death.

Kasaprince Michael Junior wrote: since yesterday I have been very down to the lowest level I can't sleep.

Hearing the news of my barber passing away yesterday.

We met on Wednesday and he Barb me worst of it he wasn't looking sick in my eyes.

Only to receive a call he has passed away. 

What Jealousy would make anyone harm a very simple and easy going guy.

Estro De Barbguy has just been killed. He was a young hard working barber who was never interested in politics.

It is said that he was poisoned and killed.

He was an Uyo boy in Akwa Ibom State and the public will mourn him and forget about him within a week and move on.

Professor Charles Soludo has condemned the manhandling of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) by a government Taskforce personnel.

Reports:Anambra State governor, Professor Charles Soludo has condemned the manhandling of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) by a government Taskforce personnel during the demolition of a building in the Prophet's church on Thursday.

Charles Soludo also said he has instructed that the taskforce personnel involved in the crime be made to face the law.

Governor Soludo wrote on his Facebook page after the incident;

Let me sincerely appreciate Anambra for Understanding with us as we take audacious steps towards making our Homeland Liveable and Prosperous. On this Journey, Imperfect steps will be taken, emotions will run wild and opinions will grow thick.

What's pertinent to notice is that we shall remain undaunted, correct our imperfections, strive to put our emotions in check and aggregate opinion that are in the interest of our overall good.

Yesterday outing has evoked emotions, not against the decision of government, but the imperfect and unprofessional manner with which one of the task force members discharged his lawful duty.

This is highly regretted, and would never happen again. I have instructed that the taskforce personnel involved in manhandling of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) be treated in accordance with the rules of public conduct which he roundly failed to uphold. 

We will continue to work to actualize the mandate you have given to us. Nothing short of the best outcome is guaranteed. On behalf of the government and good people of Anambra State, I condemn the assault, and further ask for your continued support in the fight to restore the dignity of Onitsha, and indeed the totality of our Homeland.
