Bruno Fernandes blame referee Chris over missed penalty.

Referee Chris Kavanagh came under fire from Bruno Fernandes for not "apologizing" for his role in the Manchester United captain's missed penalty in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Fulham.

Fernandes had squandered an earlier opportunity to give United the lead when he fired a first-half penalty over the crossbar, but Emile Smith Rowe cancelled out Leny Yoro's deflected second-half opening, and Marco Silva's team held United.

The Portugal international had to re-spot the ball and begin his procedure after Fernandes clashed with referee Kavanagh while he was walking back to begin his run-up after placing the ball onto the penalty spot.

Fernandes added that he expected the official to apologize, but he did not, even though he did not hold Kavanagh responsible for the error. "I was upset," wrote Fernandes.

You have your own routines and things you do as a penalty-taker. I was offended by the referee's lack of apology. I was triggered by that at the time, but that does not justify avoiding the punishment. "I hit the ball really badly. It went over the bar because I pushed my foot under the ball too much.
